Profile of Dr. Rohini K. Srihari
Dr. Rohini K. Srihari is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science & Engineering at the State University of New York at Buffalo. Dr. Srihari's current research focus is on advanced representations for information retrieval that are conducive to text mining. Two domain areas are being pursued: detecting sensitive information on websites, and biomedical text mining. The solution to these text mining problems combines several technologies including information retrieval, computational linguistics, machine learning, and probabilistic graph models. Dr. Srihari also works in the area of information extraction and related applications such as question-answering. Much of this work has been through her role as founder and chief scientist at Cymfony Inc ., a company specializing in solutions based on information extraction. Dr. Srihari received a B. Math. from the University of Waterloo, Canada and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from SUNY at Buffalo in 1992.
