Profile of Dr. Inderjeet Mani
Inderjeet Mani is Associate Professor and Head of the Computational Linguistics program at Georgetown University. His research covers areas such as automatic summarization, information extraction, ontologies, and information retrieval. He has published three books: (co-edited) The Language of Time: A Reader (Oxford University Press, to appear), Automatic Summarization (John Benjamins, 2001), and (co-edited)Advances in Automatic Summarization (MIT Press, 1999). His research has been funded by the U.S. government's National Science Foundation, DARPA, the ARDA AQUAINT program, and various companies. He has served on the Editorial Board of Computational Linguistics (2002-4), has been an Area Chair for the Human Language Technology conference (2003-4), the Tutorial Chair for the Association for COmputational Linguistics Conference (ACL'04), and regularly reviews for journals and conferences in artificial intelligence and computational linguistics.
